butyl spacer
Butyl spacers are an upgraded, integrated sealing profile that replaces traditional split aluminum strips and manual sealant application. They are also a highly recognized energy-saving component in international window and curtain wall projects. Many overseas processing plants have long been troubled by problems such as uneven sealant application, air leakage, and short-term fogging of glass caused by manual application. Butyl spacers solve these industry problems structurally and technologically, balancing production efficiency, sealing stability, and long-term weather resistance, making them suitable for various standardized building projects worldwide.

Sealing performance is the biggest highlight of butyl spacers. Relying on the extremely low water vapor permeability of high-purity butyl rubber, it forms a complete sealing barrier, effectively preventing external moisture and air from penetrating into the glass cavity. Its sealing stability is far superior to manual sealant application. Manual sealant application is prone to defects such as broken sealant, bubbles, and uneven thickness, which are the main causes of later failure of insulated glass. Machine-laminated butyl rubber layers are uniform, dense, without breaks or leaks, ensuring consistent sealing for both standard flat windows and irregularly shaped curved glass. Meanwhile, the product has a wide temperature resistance range, and will not crack, flow, or delaminate under complex overseas climates such as extreme cold, high temperature exposure, and high humidity in coastal areas. Its long-term sealing performance shows almost no decline.

In terms of structural design, the butyl spacer eliminates the weakness of traditional corner splicing with spacers, supporting seamless bending processing. The four corners of traditional insulated glass are the most vulnerable areas for seal failure and water/air leakage. The butyl spacer can be integrally bent, with no seams, structurally eliminating the risk of leakage at the corners. Combined with the uniformly permeable micropores inside the aluminum strip and a molecular sieve desiccant, it continuously absorbs trace amounts of moisture within the cavity, stabilizing the dry environment inside the insulated glass and preventing condensation, fogging, and mold growth, significantly extending the overall lifespan of the insulated glass.
