What Is About Aluminum Spacer With Butyl Paste

Pasted aluminum spacer is a component used in the manufacturing of insulated glass units (IGUs), which are double or triple-pane windows designed for improved thermal insulation and energy efficiency.

The pasted aluminum spacer is a type of edge spacer that separates the two (or more) glass panes in an IGU, maintaining a consistent gap (usually filled with air or inert gas like argon or krypton). Unlike traditional swiggle spacers or warm-edge spacers, pasted aluminum spacers are made of aluminum and have an adhesive (paste) applied to their surfaces to bond with the glass panes.

Key Features:

1. Material: Made of aluminum, which provides structural rigidity.

2. Adhesive Coating: The spacer has a butyl-based or similar adhesive ("paste") on both sides to ensure a strong bond with the glass.

3.Desiccant: Often includes a desiccant (drying agent) to absorb moisture inside the IGU, preventing fogging.

4.Thermal Performance: Aluminum is highly conductive, so pasted aluminum spacers can contribute to thermal bridging (heat transfer at the edges), unlike "warm-edge" spacers (e.g., stainless steel or foam).
